Malachi 3:10b “prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”
The near context of Malachi 3:10 is tithes and offerings, but it is the imagery brought to mind by this portion of the verse that I mean to suggest with the following praise.
A week or so ago, I was on the phone with a pastor in Texas who asked me how long I have been on deputation. I told him that I had been calling pastors for about three weeks and that I had managed to schedule nine meetings. He responded with “you’re doing better than most brother, keep it up!” While I was encouraged by this man, I realize that I will need far more than nine scheduled meetings in order to raise the prayer and financial support we’ll need to get to Paraguay.
A few nights later, my family sat around the campfire and talked about different attributes of God as we prayed and had family altar. We talked of His faithfulness and provision for His children. Our children prayed so sweetly, “Please let Daddy have a good week of scheduling meetings.”
Now picture the imagery of Malachi 3:10, “prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”
From Monday thru Friday last week the Lord gave us ELEVEN new meetings, and the solid promise of three more! It feels to me as if He has opened up the windows of heaven and poured out His provision upon us! I can’t seem to describe it any other way.
God is faithful! He loves and provides for His children. Will you join with the Showers family in praising God for this direct answer to our prayers? What an encouragement to the whole family to see our heavenly Father answer our prayer in so obvious a fashion. That’s MY God!
Praise God from whom all blessings flow…
