October 2024 Prayer Letter

Dear Friends and Family,

Greetings in the name of our precious Savior. We praise the Lord for each of you and your faithfulness to Christ.

After suspending our Saturday youth meetings for over a month due to an incredibly busy school season, we resumed them this past Saturday. Please pray that we can reach new individuals with the gospel through this ministry.

A new family has joined the church, which is always exciting. Church planting has been a slow process. Jim often reminds the church of our need to be obedient to the great commission given in Scripture, and we rest in the fact that it is God who gives the increase. Our prayer is that each church member would be involved in sharing the gospel and making disciples.

Kari had the opportunity to take 7 teen girls and ladies to a ladies conference at a Baptist church six hours away. The theme “Counter-culture:  Biblical femininity in an ungodly world” was needful and convicting. The trip encouraged each of the ladies Spiritually and emotionally.

Our son Matthew was able to come for a visit. It was a sweet time to have the whole family under the same roof for a time. The landscaping company for whom he works was subcontracted to do hurricane relief, so he is now in North Carolina while he continues to apply for lineman apprenticeship positions. Amelia has finished her high school studies and has begun teaching English classes to a few students. Sophia continues to enjoy her Paraguayan dance classes and has been able to bring some of her classmates to church.

As we close out this letter, we would like to mention a special prayer request. We need to take a furlough late fall of 2025 as it will have been 5 years since our last one. However, we cannot leave the church without someone who can care for it for the six months we would be gone. Jim has reached out to some furlough relief missionaries as well as a former missionary from here in Paraguay, but so far, he hasn’t found someone who is available.  Please pray for the Lord’s provision in this matter.
