Dear Friends and Family,
We are excited to announce our church’s third anniversary on Easter Sunday. As part of the celebration, we will have a breakfast before the service. We also look forward to celebrating the Lord’s supper that morning. It is incredible to see how the Lord has grown us spiritually and numerically in the last three years. We are a small church, but we are growing. Please pray more souls will hear the good news of the Gospel through Iglesia Bautista La Victoria.
As a church, we would also covet your prayers for our youth outreach ministry. The small group of young people who were coming have not been able to come for the last several meetings. We have temporarily suspended the meetings as we seek the Lord’s will for how to reach new young people in our area. It is a ministry that needs to continue as we know reaching young people is crucial for a church to survive long-term.
After diligently but unsuccessfully searching for furlough relief and much prayer, we feel the Lord would not have us take a several month furlough this year. God’s plan is always better than ours, and we rest in that. If you would like a video update that you can show the church (as we know it has been several years since we have seen most of you), please let us know, and we will put one together.
Amelia (our 18-year-old) enrolled in a five month missionary training school here in Paraguay and has completed the three month classroom portion. She left last week on her outreach trip to some towns here in Paraguay and then will travel to Peru. We are thankful for her love for Jesus and desire to serve Him. Sophia is attending a local Paraguayan high school for the first time in our eight years here. The school year runs February through November. She is currently “auditing” the classes as we wait for the official paperwork approving her homeschool records. The Paraguayan governmental red tape is always a challenge; however, we are praying and trusting that the paperwork will come through so she can be officially registered.
Your Missionaries,
Jim and Kari Showers
