The last few weeks have been sweet as we have been able to see friends and family at each stop along the way.  We spent 10 days in Wytheville, VA, with dear friends Pastor Andrew and Crystal Davis.  Crystal and Kari were office-mates at PCC for four years.  Jim was able to preach Easter Sunday night.  That morning four individuals had raised their hands during the invitation indicating their need to be saved; however, they didn’t come forward or speak to anyone.  That night two of the individuals (a husband and wife) returned; and after Jim preached, they walked the aisle and trusted Christ to be their Savior.  The following Wednesday, the wife brought her younger sister and she was saved.  We received word that the mom of these young ladies came to church the following Sunday night to see them get baptized and she was also saved.  What rejoicing to know that these four individuals now have the hope of eternity in Heaven because of their new faith in Christ.

During our stay in Wytheville, Jim was able to spend many hours fellowshipping with Pastor Davis as they made hospital and home visits.  We also enjoyed many meals with the Davis family as well as Easter lunch and later a cookout in the home of the youth pastor, Mat and Amy Kalmeta.  Our girls enjoyed getting to play with the Kalmeta girls and Claire Davis on a daily basis.

While we were in Wytheville we received word that a young lady who heard Jim give the gospel in Fayetteville at Fort Bragg also decided to place her trust in Christ for salvation.

The following week was spent in Bennett, NC, where Pastor Neal Jackson is the pastor.  He and his wife are friends of ours from when he pastored at the Campus Church in Pensacola.  We were able to park at their guest house for the week.  We all enjoyed having a home to ourselves with a full sized shower, big kitchen and laundry facilities.  The view was gorgeous as well. 079081

From Bennett we traveled to Wilson, NC, this last weekend, where we had the privilege to present our ministry at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Shakour, whom we also know from the Campus Church.  Jim was also able to share more about what it means to be a missionary as well as some interesting things about Paraguay to the youth group at a fellowship after the evening service.

It was so nice to be able to stop in Greenville, SC, for two days on our way south.  Kari’s aunt and cousin (and family) live there.  Our kids were thrilled to spend time with their cousins that they don’t get to see very often.  The adults also enjoyed several hours of fellowship 🙂

Our next meeting is this Sunday in LaGrange, GA.  Enroute to that meeting, we have stopped north of Atlanta in Cumming, GA.  We are looking forward to dropping in on Vision Baptist Church (Alpharetta) tonight.  Pastor Austin Gardner was preaching the night that Jim surrendered to God’s call to the mission field.  Pastor Gardner was a missionary for 20+ years in Arequipa, Peru, and started the ministry that we worked with on our three short-term trips to Peru.  We are excited to get to see some friends that we made in Peru who are now back here in the States at Vision.

Please continue to pray for us as we travel.  We have been so blessed by God’s safety in the thousands of miles we have traveled since we began deputation January 1st.  Please also pray as we continue to seek both prayer and financial support from God’s people.  We are eager to get to Paraguay!
