Dear Friends and Family,

As we write this letter, it is July 4th.  Happy Independence Day to America.  On occasion, we have had opportunity to gather with other American missionaries to celebrate this holiday, but not this year.  And that is okay.  Sometimes not being able to celebrate is hard and makes us miss family and friends more than usual.  But God is always good and provides grace.  This year His grace is felt even more, although we always miss our loved ones far away.

The sixteen-year-old nephew of one of our church members has been coming to church for a couple of months.  A couple of weeks ago at the end of the Sunday morning service, Juan turned to his uncle and said, “I am ready to get saved today.” Jim had the privilege of leading him to the Lord for salvation.  While we “only” have a handful of teens, we have decided to focus our youth meetings on our own young people for now.  So next week we will be resuming our youth meetings with the focus on discipleship of those who are in our own church.  Please pray for their Spiritual growth as they are the next generation of spouses, parents, and church leaders.

Amelia is currently 800 miles away in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  She graduated from her missionary training school in June, and a week later left on a 10-week mission trip with some of her former classmates.  Please pray for her safety and that the gospel would go forth and find good soil.

Sophia’s school paperwork was finally approved, and she has been officially enrolled.  She just finished her first term’s exams.  What a new experience to take exams in Spanish.  She also competed in a Paraguayan dance competition last week with three separate entries.  Her solo piece was incredible to watch as she performed with six bottles stacked one on top of each other on her head.  Google Paraguayan bottle dance if you’d like to get an idea of it.  It requires incredible balance and much practice.

Matthew got engaged a couple of weeks ago.  We are thrilled to welcome Lauren to our family and are praying for them as they plan for their future.
